The Archbishop exercises pastoral responsibility and spiritual leadership for the entire Church in Western Washington by preaching, teaching, and overseeing celebration of the liturgy and sacraments, and by administering the temporal affairs of the Archdiocese.

Provides accounting services to Chancery departments, the Archdiocesan Endowment Fund and the Annual Catholic Appeal. Also acts as information resource for parishes regarding payroll taxes.

Assists the Archbishop in managing the business and financial affairs of the Archdiocese, including fundraising, property and construction, and parish financial services.

Archbishop's Delegate for Religious 206-382-4829

Assists the Archbishop in providing communications and interactive relationships with religious communities of men and women living and serving in ministries in the Archdiocese.

Archdiocesan Housing Authority 206-448-3360

Provides approximately 150,000 bed nights each year for homeless men, women, and children and provides access to medical attention, alcohol and drug treatment, and job counseling. In addition, AHA is responsible for 1,400 units of permanent low-income housing. AHA also resettles nearly 300 refugees from around the world.

Collects, organizes, preserves and makes available for research materials that relate to the history of the Catholic Church in the Pacific Northwest. Assures the retention and appropriate disposition of active and inactive records of the Chancery and is a resource to parishes, schools, and faith communities regarding active and historical records.

Associated Catholic Cemeteries 206-522-0996

Catholic cemeteries are signs of hope that provide a place for prayer and witness to our belief in the resurrection promised through Jesus Christ. This ministry is extended through the education of parishioners concerning pre-arrangement planning, and scheduled opportunities for prayer. ACC also serves as a resource to parishes regarding funeral and burial related issues.

Catholic Community Services of Western Wash. 206-328-5696

Catholic Community Services of Western Washington is the largest local private provider of assistance to the poor and vulnerable in the State of Washington. It includes 12 family centers located throughout Western Washington, a Long Term Care system, and the Archdiocesan Housing Authority. CCS/AHA annually serves tens of thousands of persons through more than 70 programs, including emergency shelter, free meals, assisted living, family support, child care, counseling, low-income housing, pregnancy support, foster care and refugee assistance. CCS/AHA utilizes all the resources available in each community to nourish self sufficiency.

Catholic Faith Formation, Office of 206-382-4096

Provides oversight and planning of standards, policies, and programs of Catholic Faith Formation for all lay ministers and the faithful of the Archdiocese and implements programs for clergy and lay ministers. The Office of Catholic Faith Formation includes Cultural and Ethnic Faith Formation, Lay Ecclesial Ministry Library Media Center, and Parish and School Faith Formation departments.

Provides administrative, academic, and fundraising support for Catholic Schools, grades K-12. Raises awareness of the mission and contribution of Catholic Schools within both the Archdiocese and the public sector.

Offers athletic, summer camping, environmental education, and retreat programs for Catholic youth. Also rents camps for various retreats and meetings.

Chancellor, Office of the

Assists the Archbishop in delegated administrative and canonical functions as well as information and knowledge management services.

Provides for the overall coordination of Chancery services and provides support services to the operation of the Chancery. Provides assistance to the Moderator of the Curia and is responsible for information technology and services. The Office of Chancery Operations and Planning includes Pastoral Planning and Research Services, Events Planning Department, Information Technology and Services, and Internal Support Services.

Clergy Continuing Formation 206-382-4276

Plans programs for new priests, new pastors, and the ongoing formation of priests and deacons. Publishes "The Whetstone" and through the Vicar for Clergy recommends sabbatical applicants to the Archbishop.

The Liturgy Office extends the ministry of the Archbishop as moderator of the liturgical life of the Archdiocese of Seattle. The responsibilities of the Liturgy Office include: the implementation of universal and particular norms for the Roman Rite; the direction and preparation of all episcopal liturgies; the formation and education of liturgical ministers; consultation on all church building and renovation projects; and directing the work of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission. The Palisades Retreat and Faith Formation Center provides a regular calendar of retreats for men, women, singles and couples each year. It is the primary site used by the Archdiocese for leadership training programs. Parish and School Faith Formation Department 206-903-4614

A service of the Office of Catholic Faith Formation which develops policy standards for curriculum and instruction for grades K-12 in both parishes and schools. Oversees catechetical formation and certification. Supervises Youth Ministry and the Library Media Center.

 

Parish Financial Services 206-382-7316

Assists parishes and faith communities in all phases of financial management and operations. Operates Archdiocesan savings and loan system and is responsible for the Archdiocesan insurance programs. Facilitates stock donations for parishes and schools.

Assists parishes in fostering stewardship as a way of life among their parishioners. Conducts efforts such as a parish sacrificial giving campaign as well as time and talent campaigns.

Assists the Archbishop in ensuring for the pastoral care of parishes and faith communities by serving pastors, staffs, and consultative leadership. Collaborates with Chancery offices and staff in assessing needs, developing resources, and coordinating responses. Tribunal, The 206-382-4830

The Seattle Metropolitan Tribunal assists Pastors and other offices in their pastoral care to the married and divorced. The Tribunal, in accordance with the judicial and administrative procedures as required by the Code of Canon Law, examines prior marriages in order to clarify the parties' marital status and determine their freedom to remarry in the Catholic Church. The Tribunal also provides any canonical services, such as rescripts, decrees and dispensations needed as part of the pre-marriage investigation.
