PRAYERS TO BE SAID AT THE
HOME OF A DEAD BROTHER.

In many places it is customary for the Spiritual Director with a few members to go to the home of a dead brother. It is advisable that every Holy Name Society appoint a committee to visit the home of the deceased brothers. Frequently the five sorrowful mysteries are said. For those who wish shorter prayers we give the following: Five Our Fathers and five Hail Marys.

PSALM CXXIX.

0UT of the depths have I cried unto
Thee, O Lord: Lord, hear my voice.
O let Thine ears he attentive: unto the voice of my supplication.
If thou closely mark iniquities, O Lord: Lord, who shall stand it?
For with Thee there is merciful forgiveness: and by reason of Thy law have I waited for Thee, O Lord.
My soul hath relied on His word: my soul hath hoped in the Lord.
From the morning watch even until night: let Israel hope in the Lord.
Because with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him there is plentiful redemption.
And He shall redeem Israel: from all his iniquities.
Eternal rest give to him, O Lord: anti let perpetual light shine upon him.
Ant. If Thou closely mark iniquities, O Lord, Lord who shall stand it?
V. From the gates of hell.
R. Deliver their souls, O Lord.
V. O Lord; hear my prayer.
R. And let my cry come unto Thee.

Let us Pray.

Incline Thine ear, O Lord, unto our, prayers wherewith we humbly beseech Thy mercy that Thou wouldst grant unto the soul of Thy servant, whom Thou hast commanded to depart out of this world, a place in the region of light and peace, and make him the associate of Thy saints. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who with Thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, liveth and reigneth, God, world without end. Amen.

Prayer for a deceased person

O GOD, Whose property it is ever to have mercy and to spare, we beseech Thee on behalf of the soul of Thy servant whom Thou hast called out of this world; look upon him with pity and let him be conducted by the holy angels to paradise, his true country. Grant that he who believed in Thee and hoped in Thee mav not be left to suffer the pains of the... fire, but may be admitted to eternal joys. Through Jesus Christ, Thy Son our Lord, Who with Thee and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth world without end. Amen.

Our Father. Hail Mary

V. Eternal rest give unto him, 0 Lord;

R. And let perpetual light shine upon him.
